Supreme Court Quashes FIR in Anticipatory Bail Matter
A Supreme Court bench of Justices B.V. Nagarathna and R. Mahadevan used its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to quash an FIR alleging rape on a false promise of marriage, registered at Police Station Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. The case came up in an anticipatory bail appeal, Gourav Pathak v. State of Uttar Pradesh (SLP (Crl.) No. 13309/2025), in which Adv. Mridul Jindal appeared for the petitioner. The Court first granted protection from arrest, the parties then married, and on their joint application the FIR was quashed against the petitioner and his family.
